The Copyright Act has existed since 1912 and since then, copyright organizations have collected money on behalf of composers and authors when their music is used. Registering work is therefore important. Classical composers, leader designers, sing- and songwriters, DJs, but also publishers can arrange this through their own account. Not only the design, but also the process was optimized and made suitable for mobile. Consideration was given to the different roles that one person can have, how to delegate tasks and how ultimately the use and revenue will be made visible. With extensive input, members and employees.
How do you make an overload of figures from a complex process manageable for a creative audience averse to accounting?
User Research and Prototyping: At the onset of our project, we recognized the need to lay a strong foundation. We started the stage of user research. Our mission was clear: understand the needs and expectations of our diverse user groups, including composers, songwriters, DJs, and publishers.
Like architects sketching blueprints I crafted high-fidelity prototypes using tools such as Sketch, InVision, and Axure RP. These prototypes were living models of our vision. They allowed us to test our hypotheses with real data and flows.
Through interviews and feedback sessions, we gathered the vital insights that would shape our journey.
Mobile Optimization: Mobile accessibility is the key to reaching broader group of users. We ensured that the platform was also designed for mobile devices, making sure our users could access our services on the go.
Data Visualization: During the whole project there was a need to get our heads around the complexity of all processes and pipelines. I took on the role of a data storyteller. I transformed the rules and processes into a visual narrative. These visualization served as the big picture during stakeholder meetings and offering clear insights into the process.
User-Centered Design: Our guiding principle throughout this expedition was user-centered design. We knew that placing our users at the center of our decisions was the path to success. Every design choice was a reflection of their needs and desires, ensuring that our compass always pointed toward user satisfaction.
Process Optimization: Along our business journey, we encountered the challenge of old-fashioned processes, written in times were computers didn't exist. Our goal was to streamline procedures, making them more user-friendly and efficient.
Teamwork: This project was a collaborative endeavor that brought together teams from BumaStemra, Edenspiekermann, front- and back-end developers, and different user groups, each contributing to our symphony of success.
After the design phase, the project was developed and delivered in phases by various parties. For an impression of the current system - into which new insights have again been incorporated and extensions made - please watch the explanation videos on YouTube
